NCAA Previews College Sports Revenue Sharing Model
In the aftermath of House v. NCAA, the NCAA will allow schools to pay athletes as much as $22M annually.
NCAA can “revisit and revise” terms if athletes are deemed employees.
An employee model would enable athletes to unionize and collectively bargain compensation and benefits.
NCAA settlement would release antitrust compensation claims from current, former, and future student-athletes for the next ten years.
Florida High School Athletic Association To Vote On NIL Proposal
The potential change to the organization’s bylaws would allow student-athletes to negotiate NIL activities independently of their school, school district, or the FHSAA.
Business deals allowed under the policy would include commercial endorsements, promotional activities, social media presence, and product or service advertisements.
The high school policy also seeks to promote financial education for athletes.
Part of the proposal encourages student-athletes and their families to seek legal counsel and tax advice before agreeing to NIL activity.
