Quick Hitters:
Jack Gohlke Stacks NIL Deals Following Tournament
Gohlke, a graduate student at Oakland University, whose 10 made three-pointers propelled Oakland to a first round upset over Kentucky, has turned his rapid ascension into a number of deals.
Most recently, Gohlke partnered with Formula Bot, an AI data analytics company.
Gohlke also signed deals with Buffalo Wild Wings, OOFOS, The NIL Store, TurboTax, and Barstool Sports.
“When you think of the NIL in the traditional sense, this is exactly what it should be. A March Madness hero cashing in on the national exposure. I love it. Get it while you can,” said an agent.
Caitlin Clark Offered Massive Deal by Big3
Ice Cube, the co-founder of 3 on 3 basketball league Big3, confirmed that the league offered Caitlin Clark $5 million.
“We intended the offer to remain private while Caitlin Clark plays for the championship,” Ice Cube wrote. “But I won't deny what's now already out there: BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn't we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3.”
The WNBA has not yet responded to questions about whether Clark will be allowed to play in both leagues.
For comparison, the WNBA’s rookie salary for lottery draft picks, where Clark is projected, are $76,535.
Tennessee QB Iamaleava Speaks on Tennessee Lawsuit
Iamaleava, a rising sophomore and the presumptive starting quarterback for Tennessee, was the focus of the NCAA’s investigation into Tennessee and the subsequent legal challenge from Tennessee.
Currently, the NCAA is barred from enforcing their Name, Image, and Likeness guidelines under the preliminary injunction issued in the case.
This week, Iamaleava shared his thoughts on the process and the support he received from the University.
“It felt great to know that all the guys behind the scenes are behind us and all the student-athletes,” Iamaleava said. “I thought coach Hepuel and everybody in their whole staff has done a great job in keeping us focused on what the main goal is, to be a student-athlete here at the university. I'm focused on ball and I'm glad all that's past us.”
